William W. Walters

William W. Walters, of Nappanee, joined his wife Helen in Heaven on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Born in Kosciusko County on May 29, 1942, he was the son of Harley and Mabel Walters. He was cared for by Joseph and Chloie Bower, who provided him with a loving and supportive home in his childhood. Throughout his 84 years, Bill expressed the very qualities for which he will be most remembered; a hardworking spirit and loyalty to family.

Right after graduation at the age of 18, he began his career with Creighton Brothers, where he dedicated an impressive 63 years of service before retiring in 2023. His long tenure stands as a testament to his strong work ethic.

On December 21, 1963, Bill married Helen Salisbury, marking the beginning of a partnership rooted in love and respect. Together, they built a life centered on family, warmth, and shared values.

Bill found joy in the simple aspects of life. He loved watching the Food Network and looked forward to Saturday evenings, enjoying the music of the Gaither’s. An outdoorsman at heart, Bill often spent time cutting wood and took great pride in raising swine for many years. He was a pillar of strength, always ready to lend a helping hand and was committed to those he cared for most.

Bill is survived by his children, Sharon (Michael) Duff, Willie (Brenda) Walters, and Joe (Susan) Walters; grandchildren, ShawnMichael (Rachael), Noah, Josiah, Garret, Jennifer, Justice (Tung), and Brighty (Wesley); and 10 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, James Walters along with extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and foster parents, wife, Helen and sister, Rachel Kubley.
