William “Bill” P. Hoy Jr., age 75, passed away at Parkview Regional Medical Center on September 17, 2026. He was born on February 1, 1951, in Hersey, Pennsylvania to William Sr. and Janet (Wagner) Hoy. He married Sally (Bechtel) Hoy on July 4, 2009. He will be remembered as a man of deep generosity, steady faith, and a heart bigger than his body could handle.

Bill graduated from Palmyra Area High School in Palmyra, PA, in 1969 and then studied at Grace College for a year and a half. His connection to Grace remained meaningful throughout his life, and he especially enjoyed attending Grace College athletic events as well as artistic and cultural programs.

Much of Bill’s working life was spent in construction, where he worked with Warsaw Masonry, R & C Builders, and Keystone Designs. He also found great satisfaction in working with his hands beyond his career. He enjoyed construction projects of all kinds and brought that same practical creativity into many parts of his life.

Bill’s interests were wide-ranging and reflected both curiosity and energy. He enjoyed collecting vinyl records, gardening, scrapping metal, and working puzzles, along with many other pastimes that kept his hands and mind engaged. He gave generously of his time to the community, building sets for community theaters and creating sets for Leesburg Grace Church fall festivals and other events. He also served as co-president of the Town and Country Garden Club, chaired the horticulture scholarship, participated on the worship team, and was a leader in children’s ministry.

Faith was an important part of Bill’s life. He was a member of the Gideons for several years and, over the course of his life, attended many churches. In the community, he was part of congregations including Winona Lake Grace Brethren, Warsaw Community Church, and Leesburg Grace Church.

Above all, Bill treasured his family. He is survived by his wife, Sally Hoy of Warsaw. He also leaves behind his daughters, Kalee Tuggle of Warsaw, and Shyloh (Nicholas) Lawrence of Leesburg, and his grandchildren, Kyla Wood of Fort Wayne, Melody Tuggle of Warsaw, Maggie Tuggle of Warsaw, and Carson Lawrence of Warsaw, who were a cherished part of his life. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Robert (Anne) Hoy of Souix Fall, SD; Diana Dover of Lewisburg, TN; Dawn Hynicker of Harrisburg, PA; Jon Hoy of Chanhassen MN), Brian (Cynthia) Hoy of Palmyra, PA; Meliane Ting of Palmyra PA; Melinda (Roy) Jones of Bernville, PA; Janna (John) Pyle of Roanoke, VA; Andrea (David) McColgan of Bernville PA; Eric (Beth) Hoy Palmyra, PA, and Mark (Joanna) Hoy of Wilmington DE.
