Wayne Karnes

Ewing W. Karnes, affectionately known as Wayne, passed away on November 20, 2023, at his home with his loving wife by his side at the age of 76. He was born on June 19, 1947, in Kokomo, IN to JR Karnes and Betty Joan (Kline).

Wayne lived a fulfilling life marked by strong bonds with family and a passion for the outdoors. Wayne had a deep love for nature. He found solace in spending time outdoors, immersing himself in the beauty of the natural world. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes and cherished his days on the water. Additionally, Wayne also enjoyed playing golf and pinochle, challenging himself intellectually. He also enjoyed cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers, he was an avid racing fan along with football, and basketball. Faith held a special place in Wayne’s life. 

His devoted spirituality guided him throughout his journey. Wayne cherished the presence and support of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sisters, Anita Paulo and Donna Tritt; and brothers, Darrell and Greg Karnes. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise, to whom he was deeply devoted. Their love and companionship were unwavering, a true testament to their enduring bond. Wayne’s legacy also lives on through his children, Matthew (Cindy) Karnes, Andrew (Julie) Karnes, and Tonya (Jeff) McGuigan. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, as well as five great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers, John (Tina) Albertini and Les (Cheryl) Karnes.  Wayne Karnes touched the lives of many through his years and will be greatly missed.
