Thomas M Smith

Born in Fort Wayne on September 25, 1959, Tom was the son of J. Peter Smith and Dolores Woodard Smith, He was a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School and proved himself to be quite handy at an early age - inventing, building and  troubleshooting were natural gifts. 

Tom worked in construction trades most of his life; he was a talented carpenter with an eye for detail. Most recently, he was an independent contractor primarily working in residential remodeling and maintenance. More personally, he is remembered for his good sense of humor and his ability to make friends with most anyone. He was a proud father who loved his family, even when he struggled to show it. He was hard working, kind and always had a project in the works. 

Those who survive include his daughter, Melissa Sorg of Fort Wayne; three sisters: Barbara (Artie) Borkowski of Rolling Prairie, Victoria Laird of Fort Wayne and Patricia (Mark) Haverford of New Port Ritchie, FL and grandson, Daniel Sorg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and by a close friend, Tim (Eileen) Gouloff - who was like a brother to Tom.

Care of Tom and the Smith family is entrusted to Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Warsaw. Celebration Life will be held at Charlies Place, 4201 N Wells Street Fort Wayne, IN 46808  on February 24 from 2 - 5 p.m. Written condolences may be left for the family at www.TitusFuneralHome.com
