Dorcas Ruth (Greenhow) Way of Cedar Springs, Michigan entered the loving arms of her Savior on February 16, 2026 in Warsaw, Indiana at the age of 103.
Ruth was born October 5, 1922 in Windsor, Ontario (Canada) to the late Hubert and Gladys Greenhow, the fourth of five daughters. She received nurses training during World War II at the Victoria Hospital (London, ON) and became a registered nurse. Following the war, she married the love of her life and childhood friend Harold (Hal) W. Way in July 1946 and the two of them settled in Berkley, Michigan. Hal and Ruth immediately joined Berkley Community Church and served in multiple ministries for decades.
Ruth was known for her rich friendships, her contagious laugh, and her hospitality. In addition to church ministry, she also poured herself into Boys and Girls Bible Clubs, the ministry of Billy Graham, hosting missionaries in her home, leading and hosting Bible studies, and numerous other expressions of kindness and compassion. She did all this while making a house a home for six children. And when the nest was empty, Hal and Ruth were still plugging into the lives of people at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church (Brighton, MI).
She is survived by her children, Cameron Scott (Paula) Way (Fowlerville, MI), Brian (Sandy) Way (Two Rivers, WI), Anne (Denis) Beneteau (Harrow, ON), Sue (John) Link (Cedar Springs, MI), and MaryJane (Dale) Miller (Warsaw, IN). She was also blessed with and leaves nineteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, her sisters Helen, Marion, Beth, and Jan, her daughter Karen, an infant granddaughter, and two infant great-grandsons.
The family of Ruth are blessed with constant smiles and laughs as we remember her spunk and infectious enthusiasm. She wanted everyone that she met to know the Jesus that she loved so dearly. And every day was shaped by the simple encouragement she clung to; “Rejoice always, pray continually, in everything give thanks for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:17-19)
A Celebration of Life service for Ruth will be held March 28, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, Michigan. The family will hold a private interment service for Ruth in the coming days.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations to be made to the Boys and Girls Bible Clubs of Greater Detroit (https://bibleclubs.org/ and follow donation link).
