Ruby Ann Brower, known affectionately as Ruby, has passed away peacefully from her home on Loon Lake north of Columbia City. She was 78 years old when she passed on November 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Ruby is remembered for her compassion for others, vibrant spirit and zest for life. She loved to laugh and had a special way of bringing light to any room she entered. Whether it was a night of festivities in the Boys Club, Christmas Eve parties where even Santa would make an appearance, or a peaceful evening boat ride, Ruby made the Brower home a fixture of family, community, life and love.
Growing up in the Shipshewana area, she was the daughter of Payson & Hazel (Kauffman) Hostetler. She graduated from Bethany High School, Goshen and furthered her studies at International Business College and St. Francis University, Fort Wayne; achievements that paved the way for her successful career.
Ruby's career spanned many years. She worked at General Telephone, GTE, and Verizon, where she dedicated herself wholeheartedly until her retirement. Even after her telecommunications career, Ruby continued to thrive, partnering with her spouse Timothy Brower, as a Broker with Orizon Real Estate, a role she performed with passion and dedication.
Ruby's love for life extended far beyond her professional endeavors. She was known for her love of golf, and tending to her beautiful flower gardens, a hobby that brought her joy and relaxation. Additionally, Ruby enjoyed spending social time with friends and boating, especially in Ludington, MI. She also loved her chocolate Milano cookies during her stays at their Naples, Florida residence.
Ruby cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Paula (husband, Brooks) Langeloh of Columbia City; her grandson, Chase (wife, Sheri) Langeloh of Greensboro, North Carolina; her grandson, Hunter Langeloh of Columbia City; and her great-granddaughters, Zoey and Norah Langeloh of Greensboro. She also leaves behind her siblings, Lila (husbnd, Keith) Fox of Goshen and Lowell (wife, Carolyn) Hostetler of Lagrange.
Ruby was blessed to find love twice in her life, having been married to both Stephan Bohn and Timothy Brower, who have preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Dennis and Danny Hostetler, as well as her parents, Payson and Hazel Hostetler.
Ruby was known by many and loved by all.
