Rowena W. Impey, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing in Goshen at the age of 82. She was born on August 27, 1943, in London, England, the daughter of Les and Irene Callum. A cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Rowena was known for her kind heart, dry sense of humor, and a profound love for her family.
Rowena dedicated many years of her life to her career as a secretary for Heifer Project International. Her commitment was exemplified by her ability to bring warmth to those around her.
On July 28, 1972, she married Donald Impey, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing in December 2021. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with love, laughter, and dance, as Rowena cherished the moments spent on the dance floor with her husband.
In addition to her professional life, Rowena had a true passion for her hobbies. She found joy in gardening, reading, writing, and engaging in needle crafts. Her love for travel took her and Donald to many places across the globe, each experience enriching her vibrant spirit. She also was a devoted member of St. Andrews in Syracuse.
Rowena is survived by her children: Bethel Cabilis, Heather (John) Pressler, Jeff Impey, and Celia (Allen) Impey Delagrange, as well as her seven grandchildren who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her brothers, Dennis (Ann) Callum, Chris (Hazel) Wakeford, and Geoff (Liz) Callum, as well as her corgi, Carys. She was preceded in passing by her parents and husband.
