Roger Lee “Snatchie” Niles passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at his home in Syracuse, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 17, 1945, to Vivian (Banghart) and Wilbur “Butch” Niles.

Roger lived his entire life in Syracuse, graduating from Syracuse High School in 1964. He graduated from Tri-State College (Trine University) in 1970, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1966 to 1972. As a youth, he earned the Boy Scouts’ highest rank, Eagle Scout. In 1972, Roger, along with two friends, embarked on a 12,000-mile motorcycle and camping trip around the perimeter of the United States and into Mexico and Canada, traveling mostly on U.S. Highway 1.

On August 20, 1977, he married Cindy Kay Earnhart, who survives. He is also survived by their two children, Tara (Kevin) Miller of Plymouth, and Adam (Brandi) Niles of Cromwell, and five grandchildren, Chance, Grant,and Ava Miller; Nash Niles; and Landon Stoffel.

Roger retired in 2013 after a 34-year career at Sroufe Healthcare Manufacturing. He had many interests and hobbies, including mushroom hunting, wood carving, camping, canoeing, and traveling across the U.S. with his family. He leaves behind a legacy that started over 40 years ago. Roger, along with his father and brother, organized a father-son canoeing and camping trip that has been an annual tradition with family and friends ever since.

Roger was a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3760, and North Webster American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur “Butch” and Vivian Niles, and a brother, Robert “Bullet” Niles.

Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at Titus Funeral Home in Syracuse with Pastor Brad Cox officiating. A celebration of life will also be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 1st, at the Eagles Lodge in Syracuse.
