Robert Warren (Bob) Smith, 88, of Syracuse, IN died on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at V.A. Northern Indiana Healthcare in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born on March 15, 1921 in Watertown MA to Harry F. & Annie Ruth (Saxsmyth) Smith.
He moved to Syracuse 44 years ago from Oak Forest, IL and retired from Duro -Test Lighting Corporation as a salesman after many years of service. He was formerly employed at Walgreen Drugs for several years.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of the American Legion in Albion, IN; Masonic Lodge # 832 in Oak Forest, IL; Shriners International; & United States Naval Institute. He formerly attended the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse.
He is survived:
1 Daughter - Mrs. Kenneth (Priscilla Lou) Davis of Massachusetts
3 Nieces
He was preceded in death by his parents & 2 brothers - Franklin & Norman
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Military graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Syracuse Cemetery with Rev. Kennard Robinson officiating.
Memorial bequest may be given to the Wawasee Camp of the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 101, Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
