Rita Veronica Miller, passed away on September 14, 2023, at Peabody's Retirement Community in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on March 22, 1929, in Ottoville, Ohio, Rita lived a life that was marked by dedication to her work, love for her family, and a passion for the joys of life.
Rita dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others through her remarkable career. She spent 25 years faithfully employed at Sears and another 20 years at Lake City Bank. Her commitment to excellence and unwavering work ethic made her a valuable asset in both institutions.
Beyond her professional achievements, Rita was an avid learner who valued education. She was a proud graduate of Ottoville High School in 1947. This educational foundation instilled in her the values that shaped her character and guided her throughout her life.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Rita will fondly remember her love for Winona Lake and the tranquil lake life it offered. Rita's gatherings were legendary - she thrived on hosting parties and entertaining friends near the inviting shores of Winona Lake.
Playing bridge and other card games brought immense joy to Rita's life. Her sharp mind and charismatic spirit made every moment spent with her memorable. She emanated grace and elegance as she engaged in these activities with friends and loved ones.
Rita's belief in giving back to the community led her to serve as a member of the Rosary Alter and as a eucharistic minister, enabling her to contribute spiritually and offer comfort and solace during times of need. Her selflessness shone through every interaction as she carried out this noble duty with utmost dedication.
As an accomplished entertainer, Rita was a class act in every sense of the word. Her charm illuminated every room she entered, and her presence alone was enough to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Her guests always felt at home in her presence because she possessed an innate ability to make everyone feel special.
Rita's legacy will endure in the hearts of her loved ones forever. She leaves behind cherished memories, lessons shared, and a spirit that will continue to inspire. Her passing has left a void that can never be filled. She is survived by Linda(Brian Stephenson) Dalton, Australia; Marcia Stanley, Silver Lake; Jeffrey Miller, Warsaw; Bruce (Marianne) Miller of Wisconsin; Jacqueline Hislop, Zionsville; Paula (Sarah Martin) Dalziel, UK. She is also survived by grandchildren: Kresta, Kyla, Bradley, Samuel, Juan and Sonya; nine great-grandchildren and siblings Alvera (Gene) Kleman and Deloris (Tony) Schulte, and a sister-in-law Dorothy Gasser.
