Richard D Vanlaningham

Richard "Ric" D. Vanlaningham, age 77, of Columbia City, passed away on August 10, 2026 in Warsaw. He was born June 13, 1949 to Hazel and Florence Helen (Starbuck) Vanlaningham in Logansport, IN. He was married to Sandi Chalk.

Ric attended Milford High School. He worked as a journeyman Toolmaker and Model Maker for over 25 years. Following his retirement, Richard continued to hone his wood working skills by establishing his own wood working business, Wood-N-Art.

Ric became a Christian as an adult and greatly enjoyed reading about God's grace. He also found much enjoyment in playing the acoustic guitar.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandi Vanlaningham of Columbia City, who was his steadfast companion through life's many journeys. Richard’s legacy lives on through his children: daughters Kelly (Dave) Warrick of Arizona, Naomi (Rich) Stouder of Syracuse, Sarah Nace of Warsaw and his son Gabriel (Valerie Cassity) Stephen of Goshen. He is also survived by his siblings: brother Steve (Sue) Vanlaningham of Milford, sister Cheryl (Dan) Robinson of Warsaw, and brother Michael Vanlaningham of Warsaw. Ric is reunited in rest with his parents; son, Jay Vanlaningham, sisters, Amy Vanlaningham and Karen Vanlaningham, great-grandson Theo, and son-in-law John Nace, all of whom held special places in his heart and memories.

A Life Celebration Service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Titus Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, Indiana 46567.
