Richard A Phillips, age 58, of Syracuse, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Goshen Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1967 in Goshen, Indiana to Richard and Jean (Sloan) Phillips. Richard lived a life marked by a profound love for the outdoors, where he found great joy in fishing and exploring the world of mushrooms, passions that deeply connected him to nature and tranquility.

Richard was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, whose presence enriched the lives of those around him. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Jean Phillips of Syracuse, Indiana, whose unwavering support and care were constant pillars throughout his life. Richard was also a beloved brother to Cindy (Chester) Chalk and Tammy (Tim) Wright, both of Syracuse, who carry forward his memory in their hearts. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whose lives he touched with kindness and warmth. Though his father preceded him in death, as did his niece, Cassandra Vu, Richard’s legacy endures through the love and memories shared by his living family members.

Richard’s life was one of quiet strength and genuine connection, rich in the simple and profound pleasures of the outdoors that he so treasured. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
