Richard D. “Dick” Hinton, 84, of North Webster, IN passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Mason Health & Rehab in Warsaw, IN. He was born on July 7, 1925 in

Fort Wayne, IN to Harry M. and Cecile F. (High) Hinton.

He graduated in 1943 from Central High School in Fort Wayne with yearbook leadership honors and was in the National Honor Society. He received his BSME Degree from Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was married on December 2, 1944 in Norman, OK to Betty J. Brubaker who survives. He had worked for Essex International and United Technology in Ft. Wayne before retiring in 1990 as manager of technical service for Essex Magnet Wire and Insulation Division after 20 years of service. He formerly worked at Phelps Dodge Magnet Wire Corp. for 21 years as Works Manager where he helped start up and complete a new facility in Hopkinsville, KY.

Mr. Hinton had been coming to Lake Webster since 1944 before moving here permanently in 1976 from Fort Wayne. He was a member of the North Webster Church of God, past president and member of Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, Three Rivers Masonic Lodge #733 F & AM since 1953, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Ft. Wayne. He was also commissioned by the Governor of Kentucky in October 1966.

He is survived by:

3 Daughters - Kay J. Blalock, PhD. of St. Louis, MO; Mrs. Gary (Marta J.) Zoller of

Auburn, IN; & Mrs. Glenn (Tina L.) McDonald of Leeds, AL

7 Grandchildren – Shanna Rehrer, Tara Rehrer, Victoria McDonald, Jonathan Blalock, Andrew Blalock, Kyle McDonald, & Matthew McDonald

3 Step Grandchildren – Michael Zoller, Dan Zoller, & Jennifer Zoller

2 Step Gt. Grandchildren

1 Brother- Harry “Junior” & Dorothy Hinton of Ft. Wayne

He was preceded by his parent & sister - Lela Fisher.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the North Webster Church of God, 301 N. Main St., North Webster, IN with Pastor Dennis Judy of the church officiating. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne.
