Richard "Dick" Gale Bohnstedt, age 90, of Milford, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Syracuse, Indiana. He was born on June 26, 1935, in Larwill, Indiana to Clinton and Lucille (Brown) Bohnstedt. He married Carolyn Barnhart on December 24, 1954 in Pierceton, Indiana. She passed away on July 7, 2016.

A proud graduate of Larwill High School in 1953, Dick carried the values instilled in him during his formative years throughout his lifetime. He devoted 48 years to his role as the owner and operator of Precision Benders, a testament to his hard work, perseverance, and entrepreneurial spirit. His father and sons' business was not only a vocation but a legacy that reflected his unwavering dedication to quality and providing for his family.

Dick’s interests extended beyond his professional life, painting a picture of a man who relished the simple joys of life. He enjoyed attending country music events alongside his beloved wife Carolyn, delightful moments that echoed his love for music and shared experiences. Dick had a keen enthusiasm for lawn mowers, tractors, and old cars, and he found great satisfaction in outdoor yard work, activities that connected him to the land and the rhythms of nature. Additionally, he was a devoted fan of Indiana University basketball and the Chicago Cubs, passions that enriched his leisure hours and brought him camaraderie with his family and fellow enthusiasts.

Behind every success and every joyful moment was a rich tapestry of family and friendship. Dick is survived by his children, Debra (Gary) Hill of Milford, Daniel (Shawn) Bohnstedt of Milford, and Sharon (Ben) Reed of Greentown. He was also a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and a beloved great-grandfather to 17 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. His sisters, Bonnie Michael of New Jersey and Carol (Dale) Thomas of Texas, along with his sister-in-law, Martha Bohnstedt of Churubusco and daughter-in-law, Becky Taylor of Kentucky, also survive him, surrounding his memory with love and remembrance.

Preceding Dick in death were his parents, his dear wife Carolyn, son Jeff Bohnstedt, brother Gene Bohnstedt, and sisters, Colleen Ward and Betty Goodrich. Their memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
