Retha E. "Eloise" Gable, 83, of Leesburg, IN died at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Peabody Health Care in North Manchester, IN. She was born on May 10, 1926 in South Whitley, IN to Vesterman A. & Willodean (Miller) Reed.
She graduated from South Whitley High School and lived in South Whitley most of her life until moving to Irish Lake in 1984. She was married on June 29, 1946 in South Whitley to Carroll E. Gable who preceded her on October 18, 1994.
She retired in 1994 from Gripco Fasteners in South Whitley as traffic manager after 23 years of service. She also worked at Lincoln Life in Fort Wayne for 4 years and she started her working career at Wabash Magnetics in Huntington.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Webster. She formerly was a member of the South Whitley United Methodist Church and Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster.
She enjoyed the adventure of travel, seeing most of the United States, several trips to Europe, and the Caribbean. She loved the many winters she spent in Fort Myers at Thunderbird Park. She was also known for the art of correspondence, always sending just the right card.
She is survived by:
Daughter – Mrs. Dennis (Nancy) Ducey of Warsaw
Son – Bruce (wife, Dora) Gable of South Whitley
Grandson – David (fiancé, Laura) Gable of Fort Wayne
Granddaughter – Mrs. Michael (Ashkea) Semone of Noblesville
Gt. Grandson – Rylan Semone
Sister – Mrs. Gene (Mary) Mann of Fort Wayne
Sister by friendship – Evelyn Bixler of Mishawaka
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010 and 1 hour prior to service on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor David Smitley of the North Webster United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the South Whitley Cemetery.

Memorial bequests may be given to the North Webster United Methodist Church, 7822 E. Epworth Forest Rd., North Webster, IN 46555.
