Listen to Obituary

Randy Alan Denney a life-time resident of Warsaw, Randy "Chopper" A. Denney passed away Sunday noon, August 2, 2026. After a valiant attempt to stay with his loving family and friends his body could not go on. He left us quickly and in peace. He was the beloved son of Norman L. and Leona "Oney" Denney, he was born on January 1, 1949. He married Sally Jo Brown on a snowy day January 22, 1972.

Together they had four children, Shelley M. (Matthew). Boruff, Tonya S. (Dale) Arter, Nicholas L. (Brittany) Denney, and Timothy J. (Jessica) Denney. Thirteen grandchildren, Abigail Arter, Anna Arter, Skyler (Madison) Boruff, Aubree, Jordan, Amy Boruff, Neville, Merrilee, Autumn, Levi Denney, Jayden Borntrager, Ava Baker and Harper Denney. Four great-grandchildren, Ava, Cam, Wrigley and Brewer Boruff. He is preceded in death by his sisters Linda Jude and Rhonda Gronau along with numerous cousins, and sister-in-laws and 2 brother-in-laws.

Randy attended Taylor University on a golf scholarship, and transferred to Michigan State University the following year to pursue becoming a Golf Course Superintendent, graduating seventh in his class, making him a Turf Agronomist. After this he became 2nd assistant Superintendent at Tippecanoe Country Club, serving under the direction of James Plumb. He left there to begin his own business, Complete Lawn Service. He personally maintained numerous business and home lawns in the Warsaw and Lake Wawasee area. He owned this business for 40 years.

His dream was always to be the Superintendent at Rozella Ford Golf Course, this happened a year after he had started his lawn service company. Employed by Lakeland Golfers Association as the Superintendent, he retired from Rozella Ford Golf Course after 38 ½ years. Randy loved golf: from playing the game well, dreaming of hole design, and managing his crew to making a quality course for all golfers. He lived and loved Rozella Ford Golf Course and his care showed and was well-known throughout the state.

He was a member of Hoosier Turf Grass Association and served as president for the group two different times. He was a gold pin member of Golf Course Superintendents of America. He was also a proud alumni of Warsaw High Schools "Class of 67." Members at Rozie were like family to him, he loved people and he enjoyed a good joke or prank. His golfers were some of his best friends. He once stated, "He knew who was on the course just by seeing their golf swings." During his retirement he maintained his farm. And played poker whenever he had the chance.

When he could no longer play golf he looked forward to playing poker every other week with some of his former golfing friends. Randy will be deeply missed by his family. For all the time he spent at the golf course he still made time for us. We will remember him always as the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and friend.

Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN. Randy's Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, August 6, from 10:00 AM to Noon at the funeral home. His funeral will start immediately at Noon with Pastor Rick Hurley officiating.
