Phyllis Wilkey

May 4, 1937 — November 9, 2022

Warsaw

Phyllis J. Wilkey, age 85 and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly in the care of her family at home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Born in Terre Haute on May 4, 1937, Phyllis was the daughter of Richard L. and Gladys Mae (Whitaker) Leeth. She grew up in Vigo County, graduating from Honey Creek High School where she was top of her class. She was a cheerleader in her school days and went on to attend Grace College.

Phyllis learned the value of hard work at an early age. She worked at Soda Fountain when she was young and spent much of her professional career working in commercial printing. Locally, she worked for R.R. Donnelley and Sons. She also worked in printing in Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL.

Phyllis loved animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed visiting with the neighbors and passing treats from her porch to the dogs in her neighborhood. She loved to laugh and spend time with family; she had a phenomenal sense of humor. She enjoyed sports of all kinds but was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.

Those who survive with memories to share include her daughter, Cindy Elliott of Warsaw; grandchildren: Jack Lowe of Prescott, AZ, Brandon (Hannah) Elliott of Phoenix, AZ, Cortney Elliott of Indianapolis and Ryan Lowe of Chicago; sister, Patty (John) of Orange County, CA and brother, Michael (Suzette) Leeth of Aurora, IL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by daughter, Kimberly S. Cretcher; grandson, Shawn Cretcher and two sisters, Barbara Leeth and Nancy Schultz.
