Paul Alden Yeager, 83, of Goshen (formerly of Syracuse) died 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Greencroft Healthcare Center in Goshen, IN. He was born on December 4, 1925 in Nappanee, IN to Victor R. & Clara (Barnhart) Yeager

He was a lifetime area resident of Kosciusko/Elkhart Counties. He graduated in 1943 from Union Center High School in Zanesville, IN and was a WWII Navy Veteran. On June 12, 1948 in Syracuse, IN he married Birda Rhudell (Rhudy) Dennison who survives. He retired from the Syracuse Post Office after 30 years where he served in many different areas. He placed the last bag of mail on the train when it stopped at the old Syracuse Depot before the mail started being trucked in to town. He also farmed and was a bus driver for the Syracuse Schools. He was a member of Syracuse Church of God and American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse.

He is survived by:

1 Daughter - Mrs. James (Suzanne) Pachynski of Syracuse
1 Son - Tim Yeager of Syracuse
1 Son-in-law - Roger Horton of Lugoff, SC
7 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren
1 Sister - Mrs. Max (Eloise) Beery of Etna Green
1 Brother - Bill (wife, Janice) Yeager of Akron

He was preceded by: Parents, 1 Daughter - Sandra Horton on February 13, 2009, 1 Grandson - Edward Paul Pachynski, 2 Sisters - Kathryn Hibschman & Esther Huebner, & 1 Brother - Robert Yeager.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Meetinghouse Room in the Greencroft Healthcare Center North, 1225 Greencroft Dr. in Goshen and from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Cox of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel officiating. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery with military graveside rights conducted by Syracuse American Legion Post 223.

Memorial bequest may be given to Alzheimer's Foundation Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
