Orlo D. Stouder, age 92, of Syracuse, passed away on August 3, 2026 in Goshen, Indiana. He was born on October 1, 1933, in Goshen, Indiana to Lamar and Ruth (Defreese) Stouder.
Orlo’s life was deeply rooted in the community where he was born and spent his years. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1951, marking the beginning of a long and industrious life. Over the years, Orlo became known to many through his varied career pursuits. He was a self-employed fireworks salesman in Syracuse for several years—a role in which he delighted the community’s gatherings with his work. Prior to this, Orlo was employed at the Travel Corporation in Goshen, dedicating fifteen years of service. His career also saw him working as a boat and motor salesman, and as a taxi driver in Goshen, always providing a helping hand and a ready smile.
Orlo was a man of simple pleasures and genuine interests. He thoroughly enjoyed playing pool and cards, taking joy in the camaraderie these activities brought. His involvement in his faith communities was also meaningful to him. Orlo attended the Church of the Brethren in Syracuse and Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse, where he found comfort and fellowship.
He is survived by his two daughters, Norene Smith of Syracuse and Christine Huffman of Syracuse; two sons, Brian Stouder of Syracuse and Richard (Misty) Stouder of Colorado; and his sister, Peggy Hann of Goshen. Orlo was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Brent Smith, whose memory remained close to his heart.
