Norma Anglin

Norma Jean Anglin, of 1211 Stateline Rd., Niles, MI, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the age of 96.

She was born August 7, 1930, in South Bend, to Estil B. (Pete) and Ruth L. (Nichols) Murphy. On March 8, 1952, in South Bend, she married John Wesley Anglin.

She graduated from Riley High School as an honor student in South Bend in 1948. She was a bookkeeper for Security Loan Co. for five years. Upon moving to Leesburg in 1962, she began as a volunteer to start services for handicapped individuals in Kosciusko County. In 1963, the board of directors of the Council for the Retarded, Inc. opened their first school at 304 S. High St., Warsaw. She became bookkeeper/secretary for them and worked for 18 years, leaving in 1981 as Corporate Secretary of Cardinal Center, Inc. She worked for Home Health Care as Office Manager until 1983; then became Administrative Secretary/Personnel for Warsaw Community School Corporation until 1985. She was appointed Executive Director of the Kosciusko County Chapter of American Red Cross, was a blood donor, and retired in 1992. After retirement, she worked on the Election Board in Prairie Township.

She was chosen Woman of the Year in 1992 by the Greater Warsaw Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with WRSW and Times Union.

She was a prior member and Treasurer of Clunette United Methodist Church for 18 years; current member of Leesburg United Methodist Church; charter member and past president of Clunette Country Gals, Kosciusko County Extension Homemakers; a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star, Warsaw #88 and in 2023, she was presented her 75 years of service pin; and South Bend Alumni Assn. She was a member and held numerous offices, including Worthy Advisor of the Order of Rainbow Girls 1944-1950, South Bend Assembly #1, receiving the Grand Cross of Color for her dedication. Also, a former member of White Shrine of Jerusalem and Delta Theta Tau Sorority.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise Bronsing, Warsaw, and Diane (Bruce) Gescheidle, Niles, MI. Other survivors are five grandchildren: Beth (Brack) Thomas, Wilmington, DE; Bryan (and special friend Nikki Shambarger) Bronsing, Macy, IN; Lisa Gescheidle, Niles, MI; Lori (Roman) Martinez, Warsaw; and Sarah (John) Nice, Land O’ Lakes, FL; four great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons; and two great-great-grandsons.
