Nelson Wogoman

Nelson C. Wogoman, 84, of Elkhart (formerly of Syracuse) died 5:23 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Elkhart, IN. He was born on June 28, 1924 in Syracuse, IN to Anderson & Ina I. (Bushong) Wogoman.
He grew up in Syracuse and was a lifetime Kosciusko / Elkhart County resident. He attended Syracuse public schools. On October 19, 1946 he married Norma J. Liechty who preceded him in death on April 7, 1996.
He was a WW II Army Veteran serving from 1943-1946 and received numerous citations and medals during his service including two Bronze Stars. He retired as a security guard for Employers Security in Elkhart, IN. He was a member of American Legion Post #223 in Syracuse.
He is survived by:
2 Daughters - Jeanette Miller of Davenport, FL & Sharon Hensley of Elkhart
2 Sons - Randolph (Randy) Wogoman & Charles (wife, Lisa) Wogoman both of Smithville, TN
11 Grandchildren several Great Grandchildren 2 Great Great Granddaughters
1 Sister-in-law - Ella Dora Wogoman of Goshen
He was preceded by his: Parents; Wife; 1 Son - John Wogoman; 4 Sisters - Betty Stutzman, Elizabeth Rookstool, Retha Ketcham, & Norma Wogoman; 4 Brothers - Robert Insley, Rolland, Marion, & Norman Wogoman.
Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Syracuse Cemetery, Mill St., Syracuse, IN with Rev. Bruce Rookstool officiating. Miltary rites will be performed by the Syracuse American Legion Post 223.
Memorial bequest may be given to the Nelson Wogoman funeral fund in c/o Owen Family Funeral Home. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
