Nancy Powell, a loving wife, dedicated homemaker, and proud farmer's wife, passed away on September 2, 2023, in Warsaw. She was born on February 16, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Kenneth and Jane Roebel Bechtold. Nancy was a very kind and family-focused person who touched the lives of many. Her gentle nature and warm personality were cherished by all who knew her.
After graduating from South Side High School in Fort Wayne, Nancy was married to Frederick Powell, together they embarked on life's journey; sharing more than sixty-eight years before her passing . Throughout her life, Nancy lent her hand to various occupations. She found joy in caring for her family and took great pride in being a farmer's wife. Later on, she worked for Creighton Brothers in the hatchery.
Nancy loved to travel. She and Fred enjoyed exploring new places and learning about different cultures. Nancy was also a skilled cook who embraced the opportunity to learn authentic Mexican dishes while living in Southern California. Her culinary creations delighted family and friends for years.
Nancy's faith played a central role in her life. She was a longtime member of Clunette United Methodist Church and had previously attended Wawasee Community Bible Church. Nancy now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her parents, Kenneth and Jane Bechtold and sister, Marsha Lindeman. Those who survive with memories to cherish include husband, Fred Powell of Warsaw; son, John (Louise) Powell of Warsaw; daughters, Julie (Toby) Popenfoose of Warsaw and Becky (Wayne) Dye of Warsaw; six grandchildren: Stacie (Joel) Goon of Warsaw, Meredith (Tim) Miller of Warsaw, Andy (Caroline) Popenfoose of Roanoke, Tim (Kylie) Popenfoose of Warsaw, Kennis Dye of Warsaw, and William Dye of Warsaw. Additionally, she is survived by 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Susan (Vic) Scheele of Fort Wayne and Linda (Rick) Young of Albion.
Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with care of Nancy and the Powell family. Visitors may gather at the Warsaw location, 2000 Sheridan Street, on Thursday, September 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Life Celebration funeral will be held on Friday at Clunette United Methodist Church, 4227 West 600 North in Clunette; services will begin at 10:30 with visitation for one hour prior. Pastor Mike Beezley will officiate. Burial will follow at Stony Point Cemetery.
