Nancy Huffer (Clouser)

August 27, 1952 — July 10, 2021

Nancy E. Huffer, age 68 and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly in the care of her family at home on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Born on August 27, 1952 in Crawfordsville, Nancy was the daughter of Russell Clouser and the late Martha (Cord) Clouser-Jackson. She spent her formative years on the family farm in nearby New Market and graduated from high school there before attending Purdue University. As a teen, she worked as a car hop and later went on to earn licensure as a Paramedic; she was actively working until only recently.

Professionally, Nancy cared for thousands of members of the community during her 40+ year career in healthcare. Many may remember Nancy from the YMCA where she taught swim lessons for many years, from Kosciusko Community Hospital where she worked in Respiratory Therapy or from Northern Lakes Medical Associates where she worked in the office of several doctors including Dr. Coates, Haase and Johnson. She also worked on the ambulance for more than three decades and was a founding-member of Multi-Township EMS.

Nancy never forgot her farming roots and enjoyed both yardwork and gardening. She loved animals and plants of all kinds and especially loved sweets, mainly Red Hots and Butterscotch. She is remembered as caring but feisty, never afraid to give her opinion or tell you how she felt and always stood up for what she believed, no matter the consequences.

On July 17, 1974, Nancy was married to James “Jim” Huffer. The pair shared more than twenty years together before his passing on July 10, 1995 – 26 years to the date of her passing. Those who survive include their three sons: Jacob Huffer of Warsaw, Whitt Huffer of Warsaw and Wyatt (Molly Reynolds) Huffer of Etna Green; three grandchildren: Kennedy, Miles and Titus and a great-grandson, Emery. Also surviving are father, Russell Clouser of California; brother, Ron Clouser of California and sisters: Janice Nesmith of California, Kim Jackson of Maine and Judy Brown of Warsaw.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home of 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw where friends may gather on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. Beginning at 7 o’clock, Envoy Ken Locke will officiate Nancy’s funeral service.

Those wishing to express sympathy may consider making a gift to Riley Children’s Hospital Foundation, 30 S. Meridian Street, Suite 200 Indianapolis, IN 46204.
