Mildred Cotton

Mildred L. (Mid) Cotton, 86, of Pierceton died at 2:46 a.m., Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, IN. She was born in North Webster, IN on November 7, 1921 to Roy A. and Estella (Correll) Miller.

She attended North Webster Public School. On January 28, 1939 she married Donald C. Adair who preceded her in death. On April 13, 1991 in Wilmot, IN she married Eugene Cotton who survives.

She lived most of her life in Kosciusko, Noble, and Whitley Counties. She formerly worked for Essex Wire in Ligonier, was a school bus driver for Whitley County Schools for 3 years, Webster Wire for 11 years, was a dietary aide at Whitley County Hospital in Columbia City for 3 years, and assisted on the family farm for many years. She was a member of Salem Community Missionary Church in Wilmot where she was a trustee on the church board for several years, Salem Missionary Ladies Circle, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary Post 253 in North Webster for 50 years, and was active in Whitley County Homemakers Clubs for several years.

She is survived by:

3 Daughters - Barbara Lemon of Columbia City; Mrs. Jesse (Donna) Mead of Monticello, MN; and Mrs. John (Jo Ellen) Hueber of Columbia City
2 Sons - Steven (wife, Joyce) Adair of Pierceton and Bentley (wife, Janet) Adair of Wilmington, NC
3 Step Sons - Ron (wife, Jo Ann) Cotton of Warsaw; Terry Cotton of Warsaw; and Gary (wife, Becky) Cotton of St. Petersburg, FL
9 Grand, 2 Step grandsons, 19 Gt. Grand, several Step Gt. Grand & 2 Gt. Gt. Grandsons
3 Sisters - Helen Wagoner of North Webster; Mrs. Jack (Ellen) Stump of North Webster; and Mrs. James (Kathryn) Bartley of Syracuse

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, granddaughter - Terri Lynn Rider, Gt. Granddaughter - Audry Neeley, step daughter - Lois Ann Cotton, sister- Mary Jane Campbell, brother - Joe Miller, son-in-law- James Lemon, grandson in law - David Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at McHatton - Sadler Funeral Home 105 S. First St., Pierceton, IN

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 held at Salem Community Missionary Church in Wilmot, IN with Revs. Kurt Church, John Morgan and Kevin Whitacre officiating. Burial will follow at the Salem Cemetery.

Memorial bequests may be given to Salem Community Missionary Church or Audry Neeley Memorial Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
