Mikol D. Hartup, a maintenance man at Pic-A-Spot campground for 23 years and Patona Bay for 26 years, passed away on November 29, 2025 in his home, at the age of 78.
Mike deeply loved his companion, Sharon, of 24 years, who survives him. Mike was born March 3, 1947, to Gilbert T. and Helen Joyce (Aukerman) Hartup in Portland, IN. Mike comes from a family of 7 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister, survived by brothers Bruce and Ed, and sisters, Ronda and Deb.
Mike proudly served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 in Korea during the Vietnam Era, performing his duties as an aircraft mechanic. He earned his pilot’s license while stateside.
Mike loved mushroom hunting and sitting around campfires, especially at Pic-A-Spot campground. He loved tinkering around and was very good with his hands. He was also an avid dumpster diver! He also may have been just a tad ornery, just ask Sharon about that.
Uncle Mike will be greatly missed, especially by his nieces and nephews. Heartfelt thanks to Stillwater Hospice for your kindness and caring staff. As per Mikol’s wishes, no service will be held. The family would like to also extend a special thank you to Kara, Kirstin, Ruby, Lukas and Ronda. Rest easy, old man- with love, Lukas.
