Maxine Jean Pifer, 81, of North Webster, IN died at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on April 6, 1928 in Warsaw, IN to William L. & Marian L. (Roose) Kinsey.

She lived most of her life in the Kosciusko County, IN area and graduated in 1946 from Warsaw High School. She was married on June 14, 1958 in Michigan City, IN to Robert W. "Bob" Pifer who survives. She was formerly employed at Kinsey Coach Line in Winona Lake; Sun Metal in Warsaw; North American Marine in Warsaw; & Bob Chevrolet in Wakarusa. She was also a former co-owner / operator of Jot-em-Down Grocery Store at Barbee Lake in the late 1960's.

She attended the All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 253 in North Webster. She was a former precinct committeewoman and election board member for Van Buren and Wayne Townships for many years. She was a former member of North Winona Church of the Brethren and the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Warsaw. She was very active in genealogy.

She is survived by:
Husband - Bob Pifer of North Webster;
4 Daughters - Teresa Hainge of Albuquerque, NM, Melanie Belltane of Freemont, California, Mrs. Rick (Beth) Monroe of North Webster, & Mrs. Samuel (Marcia) Baumgartner of Milford;
1 Son - John (wife, Gretchen) Pifer of Tampa Bay, FL;
12 Grandchildren & 16 Great Grandchildren;
3 Sisters - Kathryn Fisher of Rochester, IN, Mrs. John (Patricia) Savage of Cleveland, OH, Mrs. Timothy (Cynthia) Hamilton of Gatlinburg, TN;
4 Brothers - Paul (wife, Ruby) Kinsey of Augusta, Maine, Richard (wife, Donna) Kinsey of Traverse, FL, Larry (wife, Linda) of North Webster, & Beryle (John) Kinsey of Elkhart.

She was preceded by her parents & 1st Husband - Maurice Harris.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Services will follow at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the funeral home with Father Larry Biller of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.

Memorial bequest may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46814. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
