Matthew W Neises

Matthew W. Neises, 85, of Syracuse, passed away on September 15, 2026 at Goshen Hospital. He was born October 1, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, and grew up in Chicago.

Matthew attended Chicago Westcot High School and later served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. On July 29, 1967, he married Virginia Martin in Chicago IL, beginning a marriage that remained central to his life. In 1968, he moved to Syracuse, where he built his life and became a familiar part of the community. He retired from the Syracuse Post Office after 29 years of service as a clerk and carrier.

He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Church. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Lions Club in Syracuse and a Fourth Degree Knight. Through his work, faith, and community involvement, he leaves a memory of steady commitment and quiet service.

Matthew is survived by his wife, Virginia S. Neises; his daughters, Dawn (Brian Rader) Brown and Lisa (Doug) Chaney; along with grandchildren Megan, Austin, Joshua, and Dallas and 4 great grandchildren; his brother-in-law’s Joe (Kathy)Martin, James (Sherry) Martin and sister-in-law’s; , Cindy Neises, Gail (Ed) Sonne, Mary (Craig) Studer. He also leaves behind the lasting love and gratitude of those who shared in his life and family.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Matthew Neises and Ellen Loiselle; his grandson, Matthew Brown; his sister, Ellen Solesky; his brothers, Ronald Neises and James Neises and his sister-in-law’s Janet Lenihan and Patricia Fisher.

In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made in Matthew's honor to the Ronald McDonald House, 1001 8th Ave Fort Worth, Texas in honor of Austin Chaney.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Titus Funeral Home-Syracuse, 1001 South Huntington St, Syracuse, Indiana 46567. Catholic Mass will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Saint Martin de Porres Church, 6941 E Waco Dr, Syracuse, IN 46567. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
