Darin Matthew Dunivan, lovingly known as Matt, passed away peacefully at his home on July 31, 2025, surrounded by his adoring wife and children, holding their hands and embraced by love. He was born on June 21, 1974, in Kokomo, Indiana. On April 15, 2000, Matt married the love of his life, Jenna French.

An alumnus of Harrison High School, Matt was known for his tenacity on the football field and wrestling mat. Later, he furthered his education at Wabash College, nurturing his interests and broadening his knowledge.

Matt's journey through life was marked by dedication and passion. He enjoyed a commendable career spanning 31 years at Hacienda, beginning as a line cook and eventually rising to the role of Director of Operations. His love for food and the people he worked with and served defined his professional life. He thrived in this environment, where his laid-back personality, uncanny ability to maintain calm in stressful situations, and workplace humor made him a cherished leader and co-worker.

A man of many interests, Matt was an avid music lover and a fervent fan of the Grateful Dead, even traveling with his dog during a year-long tour following their music. He was equally passionate about his beloved Chicago sports teams, especially the Bears and Cubs, which he followed with loyalty and enthusiasm. He treasured life’s adventures, exemplified by their memorable trip to Spain to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, where Barcelona held a special place in his heart.

Matt embraced life with open arms, raising his family with fierce devotion. His wife, Jenna, stood by him as a partner in every sense, and together they created a loving home filled with warmth. Their children—Hayley (Masazumi) Kikuchi, Cory Dunivan, and Katie Dunivan—were the light of his life. Matt also held a special place in his heart for his godson, Falon Phillips, whom he loved as if he were his own. He frequently took joy in his family’s milestones and togetherness, demonstrating the depth of his affection for them.

In addition to his immediate family, Matt is survived by his brother, Scott (Jana) Dunivan; his nephews, Quinn Dunivan, Mark Classen, and Ryan Classen; his nieces, Claire Dunivan Amber Wiebe; mother-in-law, Kristina Rademacher; father-in-law, John (Alice) Rademacher; sisters-in-law, Sarah Rademacher and Michelle (Russel) Classen. Preceding him in death were his uncle Garfield Davis and aunt Edna Davis.
