Marlene F. Kessler, of Columbia City, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 7, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on August 6, 1943, in Seattle, WA to Thomas and Florence (Vaugn) Bainter. 

Marlene dedicated over 35 years of her life to the noble profession of nursing, exemplifying compassion and care in all she did. Her strong-willed and forward nature, coupled with a touch of stubbornness, defined her character. Marlene was known for being selfless to a fault, always putting the needs of others before her own.

In her leisure time, Marlene found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. She shared a love for Harley Davidson motorcycles with her husband, Red, whom she met while riding with the Outlaws of Seattle,WA. A devoted Cubs and Seattle Seahawks fan, she also enjoyed reading, coloring books, and word search puzzles. Marlene cherished moments spent with her family and furry companions and had a special place in her heart for racehorses and the Black Hills in South Dakota.

Marlene is survived by her children Deloris "DJ" Marshal, Barbie Brackett, Angel (Marco) Rushing, and Christopher Kessler; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as her brother and sister-in-law Scott and Tammie Kessler. She was preceded in death by her parents; previous husbands, Marion "Red" D. Kessler and Ken Brackett; daughter, Christina; and brother, Tom Bainter.

Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Marlene’s care. The family has decided to grieve privately. A private burial will take place at South Park Cemetery in Columbia City, IN.
