Margaret Mast, age 98, of Syracuse, passed away at The Waters of Syracuse while surrounded by her family on August 1, 2026. She was born on March 26, 1928 to Melvin and Pearl (Ettline) Whitmer in Syracuse. Margaret lived a long life defined by devotion, simplicity, and quiet strength.

Margaret was a homemaker who dedicated herself to caring for her family. Her unwavering support, warmth, and guidance shaped the lives of those who knew her best. She instilled values of kindness and hard work, creating a home filled with love and understanding.

Margaret was a woman of many talents and pleasures. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, filling her home with handmade crafts that became lasting treasures for her loved ones. Craftiness ran through her fingers, bringing life and inspiration to every project she undertook. Her days were made brighter by the simple joys of mowing her yard, tending to her garden, foraging for mushrooms in the woods, and relishing time outdoors. She had a playful side as well, enjoying the thrill of testing her luck at Four Winds Casino.

Her memory will be lovingly kept alive by her devoted family. Margaret is survived by her children; Terry (Pat) Mast of Syracuse, Larry (Rita) Mast of Goshen, Sharon (Danny) Richardson of Syracuse, Allen (Crystal) Mast of Ligonier, and daughter-in-law Denise Mast of New Paris. Along with 21 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 50 great-great grandchildren.

Margaret now joins in rest her beloved husband, Eli, who passed away in 1990. She is also preceded in death by her sons, Glen, Robert, and Mark Mast, as well as a grandchild and four great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and multiple siblings.

Friends and family are invited to Margaret’s Life Celebration during the following services. Visitations will take place on August 5th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Titus Funeral Home-Syracuse, 1001 South Huntington St, Syracuse, IN. Additional visitation will be held on August 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Sillman officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest at Syracuse Cemetery, 907 North Mill Street, Syracuse, IN.

Donations may be given to the Syracuse Eagles 12889 N Kern Rd, Syracuse, IN 46567 or to the American Legion Post 223 1008, 1008 S Huntington St, Syracuse, IN 46567.
