Madelyn “Virginia” Graff, 91, of Syracuse, IN passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Warsaw Meadows Nursing Home in Warsaw, IN. She was born on February 4, 1925 in Wheeling, WV to William James & Nellie Jane (Nash) Downing.
She attended Washington High School in Wheeling, WV and moved to Milford / Syracuse area in 1944 from West Virginia. She was a homemaker and on March 11, 1944 in Crown Point, IN she married James Stanley Graff who preceded her on March 1, 1986.
She was a former member of the Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris.
She is survived by:
Daughter – Christine Vetter of Wetumpka, AL
Son – Phillip (Linda) Graff of Syracuse
17 Grand & Many Gt. Grandchildren
Daughter in law – Carol Graff of Leesburg
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons – Kenneth “Jim” Graff & Daniel Graff, infant sister – Anna May Downing, 3 brothers – Charles, Bill, and Jack Downing, and son in law – Stanley Vetter.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Syracuse Cemetery with Phil Graff officiating.
Preferred memorials may be given to Virginia Graff Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
