Lula Jane Burkett, age 74 and a longtime resident of Burket, passed away quietly on Saturday morning, December 11, 2021 at Paddock Springs Health Campus, Warsaw.
The daughter of Lemuel and Cora (Music) Foley, Lula was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on February 18, 1947. She spent her formative years there before moving to Indiana where she worked as a seamstress. Professionally, Lula worked for Jomac Glove, Blue Bell and Explorer Van.
More personally, Lula was a simple person with a servant’s heart. She loved her family and the Lord; she was a longtime member of Burket United Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved to laugh – she had a quick wit and a cheeky personality. She also enjoyed classic television shows like Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and anything with Elvis Presley.
She was preceded in passing by a daughter, Rhonda Hackworth, three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Sondra (Robert) Warner of Burkett and Suzanne (Brad) Bibler of Warsaw; three sons, Tom (Noeurn Ruot) Burkett of Warsaw, Glenn (Donna) Burkett of Barbee Lake and David Burkett of Tippecanoe; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy and Rose.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Lula’s care. Services will be held privately at a later date. Written condolences may be left for the family on the funeral home website, www.TitusFuneralHome.com .
