Lora Lee Barton, of Mentone and lifelong resident of Kosciusko County, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital surrounded by her family at the age of 69. Born on August 28, 1956, in Warsaw, she was the daughter of Doris Monroe.
Lora was known for her feisty nature and her solid commitment to family. She took great pride in her large and loving family, which was her greatest accomplishment. Her strong work ethic was demonstrated through her 32 years of dedicated service at Wildman, where she truly enjoyed her job and developed many lasting friendships before retiring in April of 2017.
Having many hobbies and interests, Lora enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and the Indianapolis Colts. Her favorite show of all time was Law & Order, especially Law & Order SVU. Lora was not of fan of Donald Trump, although her son is a big supporter! She was also known for her culinary skills, especially with some of her collected recipes such as tater tot casserole and meatloaf, which became staples among family and friends.
She was known for always placing her loved ones at the center of her world. Though known for her lively demeanor, she valued the warmth and support of those around her. After being with Gary since 1980, the two were married on September 18, 1992. The two spent their lives supporting and caring for one another.
Lora is survived by her husband, Gary Barton; her children, Christina Monroe, Michael (April) Meade Jr., Renda (Chad) Brower, and Elizabeth (Johnny) Arnett; and her stepdaughter, Ivee (Darrell Thompson) Hobbs. Her legacy extends to her many grandchildren: Ryan, Ashton, Christopher, Brittany, Stormy, Kyla, Michael III, Alex, Allissa, Katlynn, Courtney, Lexi, Johnathan, Adalynn, Brooklynn, Aaron, Nedra, Nya, Norissa, Taylor, and Jaden, along with 14 great-grandchildren who brought her joy. She is further survived by her beloved dog, CJ, as well as many extended family and friends. Lora was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Monroe; granddaughter, Andrea Smith; great-granddaughter, Rosalie Claar; aunt and uncle, Richard and Paulette Monroe; and in-laws Ed and Mallie Barton.
Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with Lora’s Life Celebration. The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St. Warsaw, IN 46580.
