Leroy Wade Rassi, age 82, of Goshen, passed away surrounded by his family at Esther's House, Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart on September 18, 2024.
He was born to Raymond and Eva (Markham) Rassi on October 7, 1941. He graduated from Goshen High School, 1960. He married Shirley Larimer on April 23, 1961.
Leroy had a fulfilling career as a driver, working for Chase Bag, Bartow Cartage and Preston Trucking. He was committed to his work in every mile drove, showcasing a strong work ethic that was a hallmark of his character.
Known for his ornery spirit, Leroy could fix anything and was remarkably handy, tackling projects with the same passion he had for cutting wood and enjoying time spent in nature. Cooking over an open fire was one of his many joys, bringing family together around a shared meal.
Those who knew him understood that beneath his tough exterior lay a heart as soft as a teddy bear, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a smile.
Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Rassi of Goshen; his daughters, Shelly Rassi of Rome City and Jill (Sam) Hoover of Middlebury; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory and carry on his legacy.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, LeAnn Falcon, and his four siblings, Barney Rassi, Raymond (Duff) Rassi, Rosemary Fry, Allen Rassi, along with his parents.
