Lee Bollhorst, of North Webster, Indiana, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Tuesday September 23rd, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving and adorning daughter, Debbie, and son-in-law, Bob.

Born on November 18th, 1936, in Hammond, Indiana, he was the son of Morse and Edna Bollhorst (Werts). Lee lived a life full of laughter, dedication, kindness, and a love for his family and community.

A devoted husband, Lee shared an extraordinary bond with his wife, Sherry, whom he married on July 11th, 1959 and is now reunited with, in Heaven. Their love story began just 30 days after they met at Ball State University Teachers College, when Lee proposed to Sherry, a testament to their deep connection.

Lee’s professional career spanned many years in accounting, an industry in which he excelled. Beyond his accounting profession, Lee was a passionate figure in the field of athletics, and well known in the Region. He coached the Griffith girls’ varsity track and field team for 15 years and served as an Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) official for 22 years. Over the course of more than 37 years in track and field, he made significant contributions that inspired countless young athletes.

In addition to his coaching and officiating, Lee’s military service from 1959 to 1962 was marked by distinction, having been recognized as soldier of the month for two consecutive months. His love for the military remained with him throughout his life, shaping his character and values.

Family was central to Lee's life. Together, with his family, they created many fond memories; fishing, boating, swimming and being in and around the lake.

He is survived by his children, Kevin (Melissa) Bollhorst and Debbie (Bob) Bollhorst-Dallas. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Zimmerman and Leah (Brad) Diekow, and great-grandchildren, Landon, Mallory, and Audrey Diekow, all who were graced by his love, laughter, silliness, and kindness.
