Lawrence Joseph “Larry” Heiny III, 75, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born on November 21, 1950, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Dollie (Hook) and Lawrence Heiny II. In 1967, he moved to Skinner Lake in Albion, where he attended Central Noble High School and graduated in 1969.
He proudly served in the United States Army for two years, including time stationed in Germany, and was honorably discharged.
Larry had a lifelong passion for cars and spent many years building and modifying race cars. In 1988, he was inducted into the Avilla Speedway. Larry owned multiple businesses including a Marathon in Albion and another in Columbia City.
On May 26, 2000, Larry married Donna (Gruber). Through this marriage, he became a devoted father to Donna’s three daughters, whom he loved deeply. He was a man they all admired—a caring and dedicated father who made their childhoods truly special.
The family lived on Skinner Lake, where Larry taught the girls how to fish and created countless cherished memories on the water. In 2006, they moved to Ashland City, Tennessee, where they built a new home together. In October 2025, Larry returned to Indiana to live with his daughter, Holly.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie (Hook) and Lawrence Heiny II; his brother, George Wayne Hardie; his sister, Catherine Heiny and a nephew, Shannon Amerosa.
He is survived by his three daughters, Holly, Heather, and Haley Fountain; three nieces, Amber Byrum (Lauer), Amanda Lauer, and Angela Patton (Grable); one nephew, Jeff Forker; and seven grandchildren.
Larry will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for cars, and the many memories he created with those he loved.
A Life Celebration Service will be held at a later date. Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Warsaw, IN has been entrusted with Lawrence’s care. To send an online condolence for Lawrence, please visit www.TitusFuneralHome.com
