Keenis Fugate, age 91 of Pierceton, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Warsaw, Indiana. He was born on May 15, 1934, in Jackson, Kentucky to Samuel and Ida Bella (Taulbee) Fugate. He married Jean Phillips on July 17, 1971 in Claypool, Indiana. She passed away on August 22, 2024.

Keenis began his journey with a solid educational foundation, having attended Layne Tech School in Chicago. His career was distinguished by over three decades of dedicated work as a data technician, primarily with Sprint and formerly United Telephone. His technical expertise and steadfast dedication made him a valued professional throughout his career.

His service to his country was a significant part of his life. Keenis served honorably in both the U.S. Air Force and the Navy, specifically in the submarine service, exemplifying his courage and sense of duty. His membership in the American Legion Post 49 in Warsaw was a testament to his ongoing commitment to his fellow veterans and community.

Keenis treasured spending time with his family, cherishing moments that brought joy and connection. He is survived by his sons, Lawrence Fugate of Pierceton, long-time daughter-in-law Melissa Fugate and Robert (Sonya) Fugate of Bastrap, Louisiana; as well as his grandchildren Brandon (Terra) Fugate, Ashley (Dalton) Miller, Travis Fugate, and Keenis "Schyler" (Kenley) Fugate, all of South Whitley. His great-grandchildren Madilynn, Maci, Lillionna, Liam, and Bennet were also sources of immense pride and happiness.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean (Phillips) Fugate; his parents, Samuel and Ida Bella (Taulbee) Fugate; his daughter Amanda Idena Fugate; granddaughter Brittnie Fugate; great-grandson Ryker Jay Newman; his brothers Ollie, Arthur, Sheldon, Robert, Cheshly, Westley, Chester, Samuel, and Estil; and his sisters Dally, Sophia, and Dorothy.

Keenis Fugate's life was marked by his unwavering commitment to his country, his career, and most importantly, his family. His legacy of service and love will remain etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
