Syracuse

Kay A. Kuhn, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born on November 13, 1953, in Warsaw, Indiana to Alvin and Laurine Waldbeser (Haines).

After graduating from Wawasee High School in 1972, Kay embarked on a fulfilling career. She worked at Bluebell in Warsaw as a seamstress and later worked at Choretime Brock in Milford. Additionally, she shared her nurturing nature by babysitting for many children over the years.

On February 10, 1973, in Milford, Kay married her true love, Derk Kuhn. The two shared 37 years together before his passing in March of 2010. Kay and Derk spent their lives raising their three daughters. She and Derk always believed that their proudest achievements were their family.

In addition to caring for her loved ones, Kay also had a rich personal life filled with hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She found solace in reading romance novels and took great pride in her flower garden. She also had a soft spot for animals. Above all, Kay's greatest happiness came from spending quality time with her family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Those who survive with broken hearts include her three daughters, Jennifer (Eddie) Fields of Claypool, Tracy (Chad) Mayhill of Monticello, and Sara (Brenden) Kiphart of Mentone; grandchildren, Bryan Fields, Kyler Mayhill, Kadence Mayhill, Bailee Kiphart, and Isla Kiphart; mother, Laurine Waldbeser Gaskill; brother, Ben (Deb) Waldbeser; brothers-in-law, Paul Kuhn, Chad (Deb) Kuhn, and Kim (Shirley) Kuhn; and sister-in-law Pam (Keith) Harrison. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Derk; father, Alvin; and stepfather, Tom Gaskill.
