Julia A. Raypholtz, a dedicated mother and beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw, surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 87. Born on February 19, 1937, she was the daughter of Loren E. and Vera M. Carpenter.

Julia graduated from Wabash High School in 1955, where she excelled in sports, playing basketball and baseball during her high school years. Known as a tomboy, she took great pride in her athleticism, later becoming a pitcher for a local baseball team three years after graduation. Her passion for sports continued throughout her life, as she enjoyed skating and was an active participant in numerous bowling teams. Julia also had a special fondness for anything cardinal, which symbolized joy and positivity in her life.

After graduating high school, Julia married the love of her life, Kenneth Raypholtz, on July 1, 1955. Together they raised their three sons. Julia and Kenneth shared a wonderful 38 years before his passing in October of 1993.

Julia is survived by her sons, Kris Raypholtz (Cathy), Kent Raypholtz (Deb), and Kevin Raypholtz (Donita); grandchildren, Conor (Julianne), Kimberly (Cameron), Kerry, and Ernie, as well as four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Raypholtz; her parents, Loren and Vera Carpenter (Hiner); and her siblings: Raymond Carpenter, Bob Carpenter, Dorothy Barlow, Thelma Johnson, Phyllis Meyer, Max Carpenter, Doris Forbes, Delores Airgood, Margaret Hawley, and Marilyn Hoy.

Titus Funeral Home of Warsaw is entrusted with the care of Julia. A graveside service is being planned for the spring of 2025 at South Pleasant Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Kidney Foundation in Julia’s memory.
