John K. Szobody

John K. Szobody, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on May 9, 1940, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Henry and Mary (Compton) Szobody.

John dedicated 38 years of his career to retail sales management at E H Tepes in Fort Wayne and Warsaw, followed by 14 years at Indiana Box, before retiring. His work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of both colleagues and customers alike.

An active member of his community, John served his country by joining the National Guard. His commitment to service extended beyond military duty; he volunteered his time at the San Juan Diego Resource Center, where he touched the lives of many.

John was a passionate sports enthusiast, especially when it came to Notre Dame football. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis and golf, pursuits that brought him joy and camaraderie. Above all, he cherished the moments spent with his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Judy Szobody, and a proud father to his four children: Jennifer (Scott) Moore, Jeffrey (Connie) Szobody, James (Kim) Szobody, and Jon Szobody. John took great pride in his role as a grandfather to seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his sister, Diane Seufert. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Karl (Norma) Szobody.

Titus Funeral Home is entrusted with John's care. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home, 2000 Sheridan St. Warsaw, followed by a funeral mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N Harrison St, Warsaw, at 11:00 AM. The burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
