John "Jack" H. Hayden, Jr.

John “Jack” H. Hayden Jr, age 77, of Warsaw, passed away on July 16, 2026, in Warsaw, Indiana. He was born on May 9, 1949, in South Bend, Indiana to John and Martha (Warrick) Hayden. John’s life was marked by unwavering service, devotion to family, and a passion for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, education and sports.

John spent his formative years in South Bend, where he graduated from South Bend Adams High School in 1968. His commitment to learning did not end there; he went on to earn two bachelor’s Degrees, reflecting his deep appreciation for the value of education.

Following his studies, John chose a life of service—both in the classroom and in the armed forces. He was a dedicated school teacher at South Bend Adams High School (his alma mater), positively shaping the minds of many young people in his community. Outside of teaching, John contributed to the spirit and camaraderie of sporting events as an usher at Notre Dame, at South Bend Cubs games, and at numerous local sports events, where his lively presence was felt and appreciated.

John also proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, where he utilized his skills as a paramedic, displaying courage and compassion, and embodying the ideals of selflessness and care.

His love for sports extended well beyond his professional roles. John was an enthusiastic follower of golf and a loyal fan of baseball, faithfully supporting both the Cubs and White Sox, as well as the San Diego Chargers. Whether watching a game or discussing favorite teams, John found joy and camaraderie in these shared passions.

Above all, John cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted children, Tricia (Bill Ringbauer) Connors of New Carlisle, John (Cyndi) Hayden of South Bend; Tiffany Sweezey; his daughter-in-law, Melissa Sweezey; his sister, Barb Carhart; and his ex-wife, Patricia Pinckert who remained good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cheryl Hayden Huff; his brother, Fred Hayden; and his son, Luke Sweezy. Their memories remain precious to all who knew and loved them.

John will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. The family is grieving privately but planning on a life celebration for a later date.
