Gerald "Jerry" Ellis, age 83, of Syracuse, passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on May 17, 2026. He was born in Gary, IN to Wayne and Marjorie (Kittell) Ellis. He graduated from New Haven High School class of 1961. He would marry Allyson Smith on June 26, 1971.
Jerry dedicated the majority of his life to a successful career in real estate, but beyond his professional achievements, his vibrant spirit was most evident through the many passions he pursued. He cherished time spent outdoors and especially enjoyed life on the waters of Wawasee and Syracuse Lakes. An avid boatman and skier, Jerry found both exhilaration and peace in being on the water. For several years, he and his wife also enjoyed wintering in Venice, Florida.
Jerry’s enthusiasm for sports was equally apparent through his devoted support of Purdue Boilermakers men’s basketball and his passion for auto racing. He especially enjoyed collectible and muscle cars, appreciating both their craftsmanship and history. Always on the move, Jerry’s active lifestyle reflected his energetic, adventurous, and joyful nature.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Allyson Ellis of Syracuse, who stood by his side through all the years they shared. Jerry is also survived by his children, Kip Ellis and his wife Angie of Middlebury, and Ash Ellis of Huntertown. His grandchildren, Kaleb and Lucas Ellis, brought immense joy to his later years and continue his legacy of family and love.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karla Ellis.
