Listen to Obituary

Jennifer "Jenni" Joy Stanley Miller, born on July 1, 1970 in Rushville, IN, daughter of David Paul Stanley and Fern Fisher Stanley – went to be with the Lord, her Savior Jesus Christ & loving Heavenly Father, on March 4, 2026 after a long journey of battling metastatic breast cancer.

Jenni is survived and deeply missed by her husband of 29 years, Matthew "Matt:; their son, Nathan Riley, and their daughter, Allison "Alli" Joy; her parents, David & Fern; her older sister, Elizabeth Frank (Shawn), and her younger brother, Keith Stanley (Becky); and many wonderful nieces and nephews (with a newly born great niece), cousins, and dearly beloved church family & friends.

She graduated from Lincoln High School as Salutatorian in Cambridge City, IN. She was an active participant of the basketball, track & cross country, and volleyball programs. She was a 10-year member of 4-H, within which she showed pigs and succeeded in various other projects. She always loved the nostalgia of being on her parents’ farm whenever she was able. She would gobble down sweet corn on the cob; her husband couldn’t keep up.

She was a third generation Purdue Boilermaker with her degree in Actuarial Science. Anyone who knows Jenni knows she loves her numbers and frugal, common “cents!” She worked at Conseco for approximately 7 years and then chose to switch to her favorite career, being a stay-at-home mom to raise her sweet children. Later, she began substitute teaching for several years and then worked as a part-time bookkeeper for Widman Builders then for Metzger Trucking. She especially enjoyed working with the special education program and was very thankful for the family-oriented businesses that took her in as one of their own.

Jenni most enjoyed spending her time with her family; nearly everything was done together. It didn’t really matter where they went or what they did. She tended to favor visiting National & State Parks to see all the sites. She would plan activities to the minute whilst always ensuring to schedule quality food stops. She loved to refresh with a large scoop of ice cream.

She was proud to be a Purdue and Butler mom, frequently repping their mascots on her hoodie or hat. She never missed a sporting event for her kiddos and would faithfully run routes across the XC course that her husband, Matt, would draft to cheer on their kids. She took most chances that presented themselves to go spectate Purdue basketball games, likely relishing the environment in which she met her husband. He did ask her out with season tickets, after all…

Jenni lived life in a way that was real. She never wanted fluff – flowers & jewelry were a waste of money in her mind, she rarely wore makeup, and she felt most confident in her hoodie & flannel. She was always eager to listen and capitalized on any opportunity she could to pour into others. She cherished her time with the gals she mentored, often claiming she learned more from them than vice versa. She lived as such on this side of eternity because she believes our one, truly lasting hope is in Jesus Christ’s very real death, burial, and resurrection. She is and had been joyously knowing God & enjoying Him forever, and she hoped for all those around her to do the same.

“This is not what God has for me for forever, but He has this for me right now.” ~Jenni, Feb 25, 2026
