Jeffry L. Motter, of Claypool, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 18, 1949, in Piqua, Ohio. He was the son of Jack and June Motter (Geiser). He was a man who lived life with integrity and humility, cherished by many for his love of his family and caring personality.
Dedicating a substantial part of his life to his profession, Jeff worked as a purchasing manager in the lawn care industry until his retirement. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in business, laying the foundation for his long, successful career.
Jeff spent most of his time outdoors. He enjoyed chopping wood for fires and embracing nature; your typical “lumberjack”. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Jeff was an avid sports fan and excelled at several sports throughout his life. His playful spirit and gentle sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He was a good human being and a stand-up guy, offering kindness and support to friends and family alike.
Jeff shared a beautiful life with his wife, Shannon Motter (Dummitt), who he married on July 26, 1986. Together, they built a loving home, raised two wonderful children, and cherished the moments spent with their grandchildren. Jeff’s pride in his children and grandchildren was central to his life.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 39 years, Shannon; his children, Casey (Joseph) Harmon and Maxxten (Helen) Motter; and his grandchildren, Ariana and Saul Harmon. He is further survived by his sisters, Jackie Honeycutt and Judy (Jim) Solarek, as well as many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents.
