Jeannie K Galbreath

Syracuse

Jeannie Galbreath, age 82, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at Ascension Sacred Heart Living in Avilla, IN on December 7, 2024 after a twenty year battle with Parkinson's. 

She was born on September 24, 1942 in Lawrence, Michigan to Robert and Rebecca (Surface) Sousely.

After graduating from Riley High School she went to receive her undergraduate degree from Manchester College. Later, she spent several summers traveling to Colorado earning her Master's Degree from University of Northern Colorado. 

Jeannie spent 35 years teaching for the Wa-Nee Community Schools as a reading specialist helping hundreds of children develop a love for reading. She was also a long time member of the Indiana State Teachers Association holding several different positions. She was also a longtime member of the Tri-Kappa Sorority. In 1965, she married Marvin Galbreath. After retirement she and Marvin settled into the dream home on Lake Wawasee where they enjoyed many summers on the water and hosted large Fourth of July events for the family. 

Jeannie spent her free time sailing, crafting, traveling, and reading. She took great pleasure beating her sisters in Scrabble. Most of all she loved pouring her heart into her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her husband Marvin Galbreath; son, Robert (Mindy) Galbreath; grandchildren Grady and June Galbreath. Along with her sister Margie Nowicki. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Sousley; sisters Gerry Mooney and Betty Tacklett. 

 A Life Celebration visitation will be held on January 4, 2025 starting at 9 AM to 11 AM at Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse, IN 46567. Immediately following visitation her funeral will begin at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow her funeral to Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton, IN. 

Donations may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
