Jacob Hostetler, age 89 and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away on December 17, 2020 in Signature Healthcare of Bremen where he and his wife have lived for the past several months.
Born on July 28, 1931 in Middlebury, Jacob was the son of Jerry and Emma (Eash) Hostetler. On November 19, 1950, Jacob was married to Sylvia Miller. The pair has shared more than 70 years together. To their union four children, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren were born.
Jacob was a hard worker who worked for Sea Nymph boats for many years, spending much of his career in their painting department. He also drove for Zimmerman Trucking, worked at Napa Auto Parts in Warsaw and, in retirement, liked helping customers at Menards.
Jacob was strong in his Christian faith and attended Milford Christian Church for many years. He had an ornery but caring personality and loved time spent with his family. He enjoyed playing cards, teasing his grandchildren and watching old Westerns.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife, Sylvia Hostetler of Bremen; daughter, Esther (Thomas) Gibbs of Palestine; son, Jerry Hostetler of Milford; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and 7 sisters. In addition to his parents, Jacob was preceded in passing by 2 daughters, Karen Sorenson and Kathy Vermillion; 5 brothers; 3 sisters; 2 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Titus Funeral Home of 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw is assisting the family. Friends may join the family there for a time of sharing during visitation on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 between 10 a.m. and Noon. Jacob’s funeral service will begin at Noon with burial to follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
