Hope Rapp

Hope Eileen Rapp, 76, of Pierceton, IN died at 5:10 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at her home. She was born on March 24, 1933 in Marion, IN to Rev. Curtis C. & Ruth (Shumaker) Fruth.

She graduated in 1950 from Garfield High School in Terre Haute, IN, received her B.S. & B.A degrees from Indiana Central College in Indianapolis, IN & her Masters Degree from Indiana / Purdue University in Fort Wayne, IN. She was married on April 11, 1954 in Indianapolis, IN to Leroy R. Rapp who survives and they moved to Pierceton in June 1970 from Indianapolis, IN.

She started the curriculum library and served as the librarian at the University of Indianapolis from 1961-1971, taught for Whitko Community School Corporation as a Math & English teacher from 1971-1988, then joined forces with Wycliffe Bible Translators where she taught Math & English at Ukarumpa High School in Papua New Guinea for 2 years, & Faith Academy Middle School in Davao, Philippines for 2 years.

She was a member of the North Webster Church of God where she was active in the Tuesday morning bible study, taught Sunday School for many years, founded the Bible Mountaineer Wednesday Evening Kids Program, served on the Evangelism Visitation Outreach ministry, and was former secretary of the Pastoral Search Committee.

She is survived by:
Husband - Leroy Rapp of Pierceton;
1 Daughter - Mrs. David (Sharon) Matti of Milford;
1 Son - Chuck (wife, Pam) Rapp of Brownsburg, IN;
6 Grand & 1 Gt. Grandson

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister - Lois Frey, 2 brothers - John & Robert Fruth.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the North Webster Church of God, 302 N. Main St., North Webster, IN with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Orlando, FL 32862 or the North Webster Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church.
