Herbert L. Wheeler, most known as Herb, passed away in his home on May 12th, 2023, at the age of 85. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Herb was born in the city of Lima, Ohio on July 18th, 1937, to his parents H.S. "Bud" and Pauline B. Wheeler.
After high school, Herb graduated from Manchester College with a degree in education and went on to have a successful career as a gunsmith for Norms Sport Shop for over 35 years. He then worked at Chore Time Brock for eight years before retiring.
One of his defining traits was how much he loved his wife, Janie, their sons, and grandchildren. Janie and Herb were united in marriage on September 1, 1959. His family provided him with a lifetime of happiness and joy; he cherished spending time with them more than anything else in the world.
Although Herb remained quiet most of the time, those who knew him well understood that he was an easy-going character and had a dry sense of humor that made everyone in the room smile, although he never cracked one.
Throughout his life, Herb had many interests, including skeet shooting and boating. He truly loved reading,
especially about history. He enjoyed learning about various historic events that expanded his knowledge, a true “history buff”. His favorite hobby was building and flying RC model airplanes.
Herb will be dearly missed by his wife of 63 years, Janie Wheeler; two sons, Charles (Laura) Wheeler and
Michael (Amber) Wheeler; three grandchildren, Stephanie, Jared (Kaylea), and Natalie; and brother, Fredric. He is preceded in passing by his parents.
Titus Funeral Home and Cremation Services is entrusted with Herb’s care. His family is grieving privately; no services are planned at this time. To leave a condolence, please visit www.TitusFuneralHome.com
