Helen Kay Walters, of Nappanee, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital at the age of 81. Born January 12, 1945, in Michigan, she was the daughter of John and Bernice Salisbury (Pearson). Helen’s life was a testament to quiet strength, warmth, and deep devotion to the family she cherished above all else.
Helen met and married the love of her life, William Walters, on December 19, 1963. Their partnership was a foundation that lasted over six decades, marked by mutual care and support. She approached her role as a homemaker with love, nurturing her household and all who entered it.
Helen’s greatest joy came from time spent with her family and grandchildren, whether it was caring for her husband or attending her grandchildren’s events. Her home was a haven, known for its inviting atmosphere. Friends and family recall her as accepting, supportive, and always proud of her loved ones’ achievements.
Helen’s faith was a central pillar in her life. She faithfully attended The Church of Jesus Christ in Pierceton, where she built meaningful friendships. She also found relaxation and joy in crocheting, painting, and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Walters, their children, Sharon (Michael) Duff, William “Willie” (Brenda) Walters, and Steven “Joe” (Susan) Walters, as well as her treasured grandchildren: ShawnMichael (Rachael), Noah, Josiah “Joe”, Garret, Jennifer, Justice, and Brighty (Wesley); and 10 great grandchildren. Her brother, Louis Salisbury, also survives her along with many extended family members and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.
