Gilda McDonald, age 72, of Auburn passed away at Miller's Merry Manor in Garrett, IN on April 19, 2024.
Gilda was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 20, 1951 to Frank Marol, Sr. and Denise (Plets) Marol. She spent her youth and much of her adult life in Warsaw and the Kosciusko County community. She was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School and spent many years as a teller for Farmers State Bank.
Gilda had a good sense of humor and was witty. She was rarely without a smile, especially if she was poolside or on the beach. She enjoyed time spent outdoors: on motorcycle rides, playing mini golf with her grandchildren and watching the sunset at her favorite Florida location, Siesta Key.
She is survived by her son, Adam Rothenberger (wife, Kelly) of Auburn and two sisters: Patti Thompson (husband, Jim) of Warsaw and Mary Highley (husband, Jay) of Florida. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, who almost always referred to her as grandma gigi: Tristan, Lea, Taylor, Tanner, Bridha, Jada and Karson & several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her husband, Larry McDonald; son, Gary Rothenberger; two great-grandchildren: Ellie & Emmit; two brothers: Frank Marol, Jr. and Ralph Marol and by her parents: Frank, Sr. and Denise Marol.
